Cost averaging.

Cost averaging is investing a fixed amount regularly regardless of the price.

Definition

By buying steadily over time, you purchase more shares when prices are low and fewer when high, smoothing your average cost. It removes the pressure of timing the market and suits long-term investors.

Worked example

Investing Rs. 10,000 in an index fund every month, in good and bad markets, is cost averaging.
