Cash-settled futures.

Cash-settled futures settle in cash for the price difference, with no shares changing hands.

Definition

On the PSX, single-stock cash-settled futures pay or charge the difference between the entry and settlement price rather than delivering shares. They let traders take a position without ever owning the underlying stock.

Worked example

If you go long a cash-settled future at Rs. 100 and it settles at Rs. 110, you receive Rs. 10 per share in cash.
