Definition
Sold at a discount and redeemed at face value, T-bills are considered very low risk because they are backed by the government. Their yields closely track the SBP policy rate and are a benchmark for short-term returns.
Worked example
Buying a Rs. 100 T-bill for Rs. 94 and receiving Rs. 100 at maturity gives a return of about 6% for the period.
