Book closure.

Book closure is the period when a company closes its shareholder register to determine who is eligible for a dividend, bonus, right share, or meeting vote.

Definition

During book closure, the company uses the shareholder register to identify eligible holders for a corporate action. PSX investors use the announced dates with the ex-date to understand eligibility.

Worked example

If book closure starts on 28 April, investors normally need to own the share before the relevant ex-date to qualify for the declared benefit.
