Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB).

SLB is a regulated system that lets investors lend out or borrow shares for a fee.

Definition

On the PSX, SLB supports activities like covering short sales by letting a borrower temporarily take shares from a lender against collateral and a fee. The lender keeps economic ownership benefits while earning the lending fee.

Worked example

A short seller borrows shares through SLB to deliver into a short sale, returning equivalent shares later.
