Definition
Companies may pay interim dividends after quarterly or half-year results to share profits as they accrue. A final dividend may follow once full-year accounts are approved at the AGM.
Worked example
A bank might declare a Rs. 2 interim dividend after its half-year results and a Rs. 3 final dividend after the AGM.
